Fall2012 ALIVE!

Is it really fall already? I can't believe it! It was a crazy summer, flew by (when doesn't it. We had the priveldege to be invited to be in a Septemberfest Craft show alongside our friends at Uniquelee You. We shared a booth together and it was a blast! We also will be joining them at a craft show in November.
The fall is coming, it's here as is our Fall2012 line! We had the honor to work with Kari from Zander&Breck Photography to photograph some of these lovely images! (I couldn't just pick 5 that'd be too hard!:))

The next four images are of the new stretchy bands with detachable handmade silk flowers. Both bands and silk flowers come in a plethora of colors! So excited about these!

Close up of the handmade silk flower which is attached to a sturdy thick clip that can be worn on a necklace, shirt, cardigan, hair, clutch, purse, or other headbands; the possibilities are endless!

 Looks so cute on!

Here are some vintage inspired little dainty boots! With pearl buttons lined down the side and a delicate crocheted strip framing the top!

There is currently a simple contest on our facebook page to enter to win a 15% off coupon for the new Fall2012!

The last preview is a pair of the Holiday2012 collection but will be debut early with Fall2012 because they are so versatile! These are some of our favorite ones yet! The warmness of the fur and the delicate deep red.

These lil gems have simple bows on the back and on the sides!

Have a great week! Don't forget to check out our facebook page to enter into the contest! Multiple ways to win by just commenting your opinion!  More new items coming soon including SimplyAnandi HOME with new boutique pillow cases!
We can not neglect the fact that God has been so Good to us! Overflowing with business; we can't help but point it straight back to him!

Mission Kitindi

Mission Kitindi. Simply Anandi is going to donate 100% of all sales towards Mission Kitindi. This July a handful of youth and youth leaders are going to Kitindi in Eastern Congo for three weeks. Some of these youth are in need of funds because they don't have the means to go but feel they are called to go and help serve the less fortunate. Simply Anandi would like to do whatever they can to help these students make way to the Congo and make a difference! From now on until the end of July 100% of all the earnings from YOUR purchases will go to help send these students and leaders out to the Congo! Join with us to help Mission Kitindi!
Don't want to purchase anything? You can donate whatever amount you desire to give by clicking donate button.
(All donating done through the blog is done through paypal.)

Here is a more detailed look at what they will be doing from one of the leaders going:

Specifically we will be serving in a few different areas; first we will be building desks for an elementary school that is majorly lacking desks for their students.  Secondly we will be performing 4 Christ-centered skits that will allow us to hurdle the biggest barrier of communication, which is the language.  Lastly we will be the hands and feet of Jesus wherever we can.  We will have a guide who grew up in the Congo, one of the main teaching pastors at our church, who will be able to show us the ropes and open up plenty of opportunities for service.
Our small group is passionate about bringing the gospel in spirit and truth.  We want to be wise steward of the word of God that our Father has given us.  Your prayers are greatly coveted during this time of preparation and planning.  We are striving to stay in the center of His will.  As a group we are spending a lot of time seeking His face, and growing closer to Him while getting ready for this trip.  Join us in praying specifically that our hearts would be prepared to serve humbly when we get there, and give every ounce of the glory to our worthy savior Jesus Christ!!

Grace and peace,

Thank You in advance for your time and gifts; they will benefit little lives in a hurting country.

Any questions please e-mail us at simplyanandi@gmail.com

Blessings,

DIY Canvas

It's finally here! Sorry it took so long to post this DIY busy week of relaxation! :)
Pinerest! What a lovely dangerous thing! Gobs and Gobs of fun ideas and everything in between! Some how it's a thief because it continuously takes away hours and hours of my days:) Am I the only one? I was looking for something personable for my two boys' rooms!
Well this lovely DIY was inspired from some Pinterest loveliness.

First canvas, we'll call it the "God Made You" canvas; inspired from this lovely blog The Creative Imperative.
I love the personal characteristics of each of the boys it shows! It's important to remind our children how important they are and how unique and gifted God made them as individuals.

The Second canvas, we'll call it the "Child of God" canvas; inspired from this lovely etsy shop Grey Square Designs.
I love the modern way of showing a "Birth Certificate". I added the bible verse at the bottom because I wanted to add scripture back up.

I'm not quite sure the program she uses to make the canvas' but I played around on Picnik and figured out a way to do this subway inspired art without any special program but the internet!

Go to Picnik and upload any picture. Go to "effects" and scroll down to the "doodle" option. Cover the entire picture with color background of choice. Next, go to "Text" tab and select whatever font desired. I used Geosanslight  under the "Holiday Fonts" tab. I then faded some of the words to give different tint effects and different colors to match the room. Create. Save to computer.

I went online to Costco Photo and ordered 8x12 prints.

SUPPLIES
* Modge Podge (I used matte modge podge)
* 11x14 Canvas (I used a dual pack from Michaels at %40 off)
* Old paint brush (used for modge podge application)
* Cardboard (or any type of backdrop to work on)
* Photos
* Spray Paint or Acrylic Paint
* Dry Rag Clothe

First step I took the canvas to a well ventilated area (my garage) layed down drop clothe and spray painted the edges about 2 inches in. No need to spray the whole canvas because the center will be covered with photo art.  Let dry go gold some laundry. I did a few coats.

Second Step, I took the dry canvas and applied modge podge to the center general area and then immediately applied modge podge to the back of the entire photo; all the way to the ends and edges.

Next place photo onto canvas and use dry rag clothe to position to desired place on the canvas and gently press and smooth out photo onto canvas. I did not push hard at all and ever so lightly smoothed it out. Let dry. I went and dusted the house; put away some laundry. Approximate time was around 20 minutes.
This is what you will have now; it will look something like this.

Almost Final Step apply a coat of Modge Podge to the entire canvas front and sides. I did a fairly light coat. and let dry completely. I then went and did some more house work :) Approximate time was around 30 minutes. Fear comes over you as you see the foggy reside over the photo; but it will clear up I promise you!
Here is a photo of the Modge Podge slowly drying.
Final Step (sorry no photo) is spray with a clear coat of protective acrylic. This will seal it and protect it.

You're done! Viola! Sit back and Enjoy the beautiful art created by YOU!

I hope everyone had a fabulous first week of 2012 as much as we did on our "vacation" off :)
If you did it; please share! Different fonts? Different layout? Different Colors? Share your works of art on our facebook page!

Have a lovely week and Blessings!
